FESTIVALS

The festivities, as in most small towns, are lived in a very special and intense way. They are days when work is left aside and all efforts and energy are dedicated to enjoying them and meeting friends and family who come to spend a few days. Caseres stands out for the spirit of the festivities and the desire that people have to have a good time when these dates arrive. We can highlight:

In January the Feast of “SANT ANTONI”

The weekend closest to January 17th is celebrated the “SANT ANTONI” Festival (Saturday and Sunday). This festival is very popular in the town, as all the neighbours get together and in each street of the town they set up large bonfires, where afterwards everyone eats grilled meat and sausages together. Afterwards there is a dance with an orchestra until the early hours of the morning. On Sunday, with a bit of a hangover, the Auction at the Bonfire in the Square is organised where everyone buys what they want to help (pastry, cakes, pastries, etc.)

In July “SAINT MAGDALENA”

The weekend closest to July 22nd is the celebration of “SANTA MAGDALENA” who is the patron saint of the town of Caseres (Friday and Saturday). On Friday the town hall organises a popular sardine festival for the whole town at the Pista with dancing. On Saturday morning the festival is celebrated with mass and a procession through the streets of the town. In the afternoon there is a football match or some activity and in the evening there is a dance session with an orchestra.

In August the main festivals of Caseres

The third weekend of August, the one closest to August 20, is the “Main Festival of Caseres” in honour of the patron saint San Gil. There are four days in a row (from Friday to Monday) of popular celebration with different activities, dances and games for everyone, adults and children.

June 23. St. Juan , where we all have dinner on the traditional snails on the dance floor, and then there is dancing or a disco. July 8-9 Cristofol drivers’ festival, usually organized by the town’s youth. Approximately the second weekend in April the Tocino Fair is held, where the entire town participates in all the activities that take place.

CASERES, a small and cozy town in La Terra Alta

Caseres is a small, picturesque, quiet and welcoming town, ideal for enjoying and relaxing. It belongs to the “Terra Altaregion in the province of Tarragona (Catalonia). The town is located in a valley, surrounded by mountains next to the Algars River, ideal for swimming in summer. It is also well connected, just 7 km from Calaceite (Matarraña Region), 20 km from the Horta-Beceite Ports and 17 km from Gandesa (Capital of the Region). You will be surprised and amazed by the natural landscapes of the Algars River, as it is one of the main attractions of this small town of 260 inhabitants. It is bordered to the northeast by the Sierra de Botja and to the south by the Sierra de Pessells.

A town with all the services at your disposal

Caseres is a town that, despite its size, has all the necessary basic services.

We have a medical consultation open from Monday to Friday. A pharmacy with a wide opening hours for the public. There is a grocery store that is also a MORENO butcher’s shop, which every Thursday makes the sausages typical of our land, in an artisanal way as it has always been done, without preservatives or colorants and it is delicious! The excellent quality of the lamb meat is also noteworthy, as you can see these animals grazing in the surrounding mountains. We currently have two bars: the “Centro” in the Casal Municipal and the “Arca” bar. In summer from June 23 to September 11 approximately, we also have the bar and the Municipal Swimming Pool. We enjoy a cinema where current films are shown. Religious services are held in the Parish of Santa M. Magdalena on Sunday mornings.
